About
In response to the global transformation of clinical trial models, Decentralized Clinical Trials (DCT) have emerged as a key strategy to enhance research efficiency, patient engagement, and trial accessibility. To foster innovation and sustainability within Taiwan's clinical research environment, this symposium brings together DCT practitioners from Japan, representatives from multinational pharmaceutical companies and clinical trial service providers, and policymakers from Taiwan’s regulatory agencies. Together, they will explore local implementation, international collaboration, and future policy directions for DCT.
What is DCT?
What is DCT?
Decentralized Clinical Trials (DCT) are a new model of conducting clinical trials enabled by digital technologies and remote tools—such as telemedicine, wearable devices, eConsent, and at-home testing—to allow participants to take part in trials from home or nearby locations. DCT improves recruitment, enhances patient engagement, and supports real-time data collection. With a patient-centered approach, it reduces the need for site visits and lowers the burden on participants, aligning with global trends in clinical research.
